Thomas McPherson

Fund Manager & Founder

Mr. McPherson is Co-Founder and Director of Acquisitions and the overall investment strategy for Fenix Private Capital Group. He began his real estate career as a broker with Sperry Van Ness. After winning the National Sperry Van Ness Rookie of the Year award, Thomas was quickly recruited by Hendricks & Partners. While a broker, Thomas focused on the acquisition and disposition of distressed multifamily properties and non-performing loans in the Phoenix area.

During the recent economic downturn, Thomas formed several key partnerships to help capitalize on the numerous opportunities in the marketplace. Since 2009, Thomas has been an active principal in the purchase, repositioning, and sale of over 20 assets in Maricopa County. Prior to his real estate career, Thomas spent 5 years serving our country in the United State Navy, including multiple overseas deployments. Thomas is an outdoor enthusiast, spending his time rock climbing, skydiving, or hiking. He has been involved with numerous charities and volunteer work including Wounded Warriors, Boys Hope Girls Hope Arizona, and Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.

Jeff Sherman

Jeff specializes in brokerage and advisory services relating to B and C quality buildings in the Southwestern U.S. His expertise is in properties of forty units and up. He has previously worked with Sperry Van Ness as a real estate advisor with his focus being in multifamily investments. Jeff has also worked with Colliers International as a senior advisor where he worked his way up to associate vice president and to his current position of vice president.

Jeff is involved with Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group, the Brophy College Prep Alumni Association, the Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity Alumni Association, and volunteers at the St. Mary’s Food Bank.

He is a third generation Arizona native with a passion for real estate, specifically in the central Phoenix and downtown Phoenix submarkets. Jeff loves swimming and still swims competitively in his spare time. He is a graduate from W. P. Carey School of Business of the Arizona State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Magna Cum Laude.
Daniel Garzella

Prior to becoming an advisor for Fenix, Daniel was an agency owner of Farmers Insurance, where he was a president’s council agent, ranking in the top .5% of all agents nationwide of over 15,000. Daniel was also the president of Garzella Group, Inc. where he was responsible for the growth, development, and analysis of all business units.

Daniel is Property and Casualty, life and health, and 6 & 63 licensed. He is a member of the Arizona Multi-Housing Association (AMA) and the Arizona Association of Community Managers (AACM). Philanthropic interests of Daniel include the March of Dimes, Toys for Tots, and Helping Hands where he the founder of events held in Phoenix.

Daniel is a graduate from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Management Information Systems and minoring in Information Technology.
Steven Adams

Steven is an advisor for Fenix as well as the owner of Adams Craig Acquisitions, started in 2009. With Adams Craig, he created Arizona’s major homebuilding startup during the recession going from 0 to 45 homes, $0 to $11 million in revenue, and 0 to 25 employees in just over one year.

He was the co-founder and CFO of Joseph Carl Homes, where he managed capital for like-minded investors building A+ real estate with Superior Energy Technology to maximize comfort, sustainability and value for homebuyers.

He was also the vice president of finance for Engle Homes/TOUSA, Inc. At Engle Homes, Steven developed processes and strategies used to manage a $350 + million asset portfolio including analysis of historical performance, variance and current market trends to provide cash flow, balance sheet and margin guidance to executive team.

Stevens philanthropic efforts include annually sponsoring the American Cancer Society, participating in Movember Prostate Cancer and Livestrong Foundation, and acting as Captain of fundraising for W.P. Carey at Arizona State University McCord Hall. He is a member of the National Association of Homebuilders as well as the Phoenix Green Chamber of Commerce. Furthermore, he is licensed as a designated broker with both the Arizona and Nevada Dept. of Real Estate.

Steven has his Master of Business Administration from the Arizona State University, his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, and has also spent time studying French language in Paris, France. His passions include soccer, swimming, biking, and building homes that we want to see on this earth for many years to come.
Zachary LaPrade

Zach’s practice is committed to servicing the Arizona real estate industry. During the recent economic downturn, Zach’s practice focuses on real estate law and creditors’ rights in a distressed real estate market, including civil lawsuits, trustee’s sales, judicial foreclosures, REO sales, receiverships and various bankruptcy proceedings. Zach also enforces leases for REO properties.

Complex civil litigation is another area of Zach’s experience, with an emphasis on contested real estate matters, including representing landlords in lease disputes, buyers and sellers in acquisition litigation, partners in company disagreements and brokers in commission disputes. Zach represents the members of the Arizona real estate community in trials, hearings, depositions, arbitrations and mediations. Overall, Zach is an experienced resource for resolving business conflicts related to Arizona’s real estate industry. Zach also maintains a transactional real estate practice. Zach represents landlords and tenants in all types of retail, industrial and office leases, including the negotiation of leases, work letters, modification agreements, SNDAs and estoppel certificates. Zach also represents owners, developers and investors in real estate transactional matters, including purchase and sale agreements, master-planned community documents, option and development agreements, CC&Rs, easements, deed restrictions and title and survey matters. Zach’s client base also includes numerous community associations. Zach is a fourth generation Arizona native. His family has a long history of Arizona attorneys, beginning with his great grandfather who began practicing in 1920.

Zach graduated from Arizona State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science and studied law at Loyola Law School, graduating in 2006.
Ken Kurtz
